Add the 25 to 30 minute walk on top. The car park opens at 12:00, two and a half hours before kick-off. Aim to arrive nearer opening time than kick-off rather than cutting it fine.
Going home, gates lock a set time after the final whistle and there is no overnight parking at the site, so vehicles cannot be left behind and collected the next day.
The Wembley Event Day Protective Parking Scheme
Street parking near Wembley is not an option on event days, and the enforcement area is much larger than most visitors expect.
Brent Council’s Wembley Stadium Event Day Protective Parking Scheme covers roughly 1.5 miles around the ground. In streets that already have a Controlled Parking Zone, restrictions run from 8am to midnight. In streets without an existing CPZ, they run from 10am to midnight. A standard Brent residents’ permit does not exempt you on an event day.
A Penalty Charge Notice is £160, reduced to £80 if paid within 14 days. For a 14:30 kick-off the restrictions are already in force well before most fans arrive, so there is no window in which parking on a nearby street is safe.
Getting to Wembley Stadium from the car park
It is a 25 to 30 minute walk from Lyon Park School to the stadium, and most people walk it. The route is straightforward and busy with other fans heading the same way on event days.
Wembley is also served by three stations — Wembley Park on the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines, Wembley Stadium on Chiltern Railways, and Wembley Central on the Bakerloo and London Overground. If you would rather not drive at all, those are the alternatives, though all three are heavily congested for an hour after a sell-out.
